Email activity notification features #12

The "coming soonish" sounds like an AWESOME feature - I hope this will  be before September launch.

This issue is somewhat related. I received an email activity notification for this document, including Josh's reply to my Issue #10 (Archive documents). In the email the Issue title is linked - so I clicked the link expecting the following behaviour:

  1. I'm not logged in when I start
  2. click link from email
  3. directs me to software page with the workspace name pre-populated (currently it asks me to complete the workspace name - this would be inconvenient for Reviewers that are not part of the client organization)
  4. After inputing the workspace name and logging in, I was directed to the Dashboard/Activity page. I expected to be directed into the document, Issues page and open the Issue #10.

I'm not sure what you mean. How could the workspace name be both prepopulated and asked for? I copied that link and opened it in a browser I wasn't logged in with and it brought me to colabdev.com/signin. We have enough information to redirect to collaborase.colabdev.com/signin instead, and to redirect after login so there's certainly improvements to be made. I created issue 132 for this.

Reply by email is issue 106. As you can see it's blocked by the upgrade to Rails 6. Rails 6 is currently in release candidate (and has been for a long time). I would prefer to wait for the first release after 6.0.0 before going through the work to upgrade. After upgrading I'll have access to the actionmailbox feature which lets Rails parse incoming mail. It's fairly rudimentary so it'll take a while to get it right after that.

Rails 6 was released and we've upgraded to it. Reply-by-email is likely to ship either end of September or early October.

Reply-by-email shipped September 27th. Yay!
